About Andrew HSC

Andrew HSC is an HSC mathematics question bank, exam paper generator and worksheet builder for teachers, students and schools in New South Wales. It is built around one idea: a paper a teacher sets should be in the real HSC format, drawn from questions mapped to the published syllabus, and carry worked solutions that say how they were checked.

Who operates Andrew HSC

Andrew HSC is operated by Corollary Education Pty Ltd. Andrew HSC is the product and service name; Corollary Education Pty Ltd is the Australian company that contracts with you, takes payment and holds personal information, and it is named as that party in the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

Andrew HSC is built by a small team for teachers, students and schools in New South Wales.

What the product is

The bank covers the 4 NSW HSC mathematics courses: Mathematics Standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2. It is organised around the NESA Stage 6 Mathematics syllabus (2017 edition): 23 areas of study and 231 syllabus dot points, with every question mapped to the dot points it assesses. The NSW Mathematics 11–12 syllabus (2024), first examined in the HSC in 2027, is held in the same bank under its own identifier. Questions exclusive to the 2024 syllabus are not served to classes on the current syllabus. Only questions explicitly marked as applicable to both syllabuses may be shared between them. Read more on the new syllabus page.

From that bank a teacher can generate a full HSC-format exam paper — Section I multiple choice and Section II written response, with the cover-page instructions a student expects — at one of four difficulty presets, from Standard HSC to Elite Selective. Papers and worksheets export as LaTeX-typeset PDFs ready for the photocopier. Students practise with quizzes drawn from the same bank, complete set assignments, and track their progress by course and topic. Each course has its own page: Advanced, Extension 1, Extension 2 and Standard 2.

Artificial intelligence drafts new questions from syllabus dot points, suggests difficulty tags and powers the optional teacher-facing maths assistant. It is a drafting tool, not an authority: nothing it writes reaches a paper without the review steps below, and the pricing page sets out which plans include which tools.

How solutions are checked

A worked solution in the bank carries a label only once something has checked it. "Verified · CAS" means a computer algebra system has checked the solution. "Verified · Lean 4" means it has been formally verified with the Lean 4 proof checker. "Verified" on its own means it has been reviewed and verified. A solution with no label has not been checked yet; the absence of the badge is the signal, never a warning. Teachers can flag a problem with any question, and the report goes to the review queue for an admin to resolve.

Teachers remain responsible for reviewing AI-generated content, including worked solutions, before using it in formal assessments. That sentence is in the Terms of Use as well as on this page because it describes how the product is meant to be used: as a drafting and checking tool that leaves the professional judgement with the teacher. The verification page describes each check in detail, and the question bank page describes what the bank holds.

Independence from NESA

Andrew HSC is an independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) or the NSW Government. "HSC" and "NESA" are used for descriptive purposes only. References to the syllabus are to the publicly available NESA syllabus documents.

In practice that means the product describes itself as aligned to the published syllabus and mapped to its dot points, and never as endorsed or approved. Syllabus names, topic names and course names are used so that a teacher can find the right material, and for no other purpose.
